Another prestigious photographic exhibition under the patronage of Fondazione Capri. After the 2009 and 2010 exhibitions, dedicated to Baron Von Gloeden and Mimmo Jodice respectively, this year its the turn of Herbert List and Maurizio Galimberti. Mediterranean. A visual anthology, curated by Denis Curti will be on display in Capri’s Charterhouse of San Giacomo from July 9th to September 25th 2011.

Capri Trend Watching Festival 2011

From April 29th to May 1st 2011, the island of Capri will host the second edition of the Capri Trend Watching Festival. The event, which will discuss the impact of the crisis on present and future consumer trends, will include workshops, conferences, and meetings analyzing data gathered by the International Observatory, Tomorrow Now.

5th edition of the Capri Art Film Festival
From May 4th to 7th 2011, the Island of Capri will host the 5th edition of the Capri Art Film Festival, a short film competition open to young Italian film directors. The theme of this year’s festival is “Diversity”, and will include film showings, theatrical performances and debates.
The program of the event will soon be published on the official Capri Art Film Festival web site.

Abitare la bellezza, contemporary dance festival on the Island of Capri

On August 25th and 26th 2010, the Charterhouse of San Giacomo will host the second edition of Abitare la Bellezza, an event dedicated to the world of contemporary dance curated by Gigi Cristoforetti and promoted by Fondazione Capri. A performance involving three dance companies (Toron Blues, Mika Lafforgue e Sophia Perez, O Ultimo Momento), Notturno Circense combines impressive circus-style acrobatics with the elegance of modern dance.

Capri hosts new photographic exhibition by Mimmo Jodice

On Saturday 10th July 2010, the latest exhibition by the renowned contemporary photographer Mimmo Jodice, “Figure del Mare”, will be inaugurated in the halls of Capri’s Charterhouse of San Giacomo. The exhibition, promoted by the Fondazione Capri and curated by Roberta Valtorta, will remain open to the public until September 12th 2010.

Dioniso at Villa Lysis, the photos of Wilhelm von Gloeden
From August 19th to Octobert 4th 2009, Villa Lysis, one time residence of the eccentric Count Jacques d’Adelsward-Fersen, provides the stunning venue for the photographic exhibition “Dioniso at Villa Lysis“: a celebration of the work of Wilhelm von Gloeden, author of famous tableaux vivants exploring the relationship between man, nature and history.

The Charterhouse of Capri will provide the venue for another high profile musical event on the island: the final date of Pino Daniele’s 2009 Electric Jam Tour, a tour which marks the latest evolution of the Neapolitan musician’s brand of “world music” and offers an anticipation of Acoustic Jam, the mini-album due for release this autumn.

Capri, Dionysus, and the seductive power of words
A month long calender of events has been programmed for “Capri, i luoghi della parola – La parola degli Dei“, a literary review due to commence in Capri on August 2nd and conclude on September 1st. Organized by Libreria La Conchiglia, the review is dedicated to one of the most ambiguous and contradictory of divinities: Dionysus, the son born from one of Zeus’ adulterous love affairs.

Andrea Bocelli at Capri’s Chart House of San Giacomo

On Tuesday August 25th 2009, in the cloisters of Capri’s 14th century Charter house of San Giacomo, the tenor Andrea Bocelli will receive the Premio Faraglioni 2009. In addition to the official presentation of the silver sculpture representing the Faraglioni of Capri, the evening will include a live performance by the artist and an interview, in which Bocelli will respond to questions from members of the audience.
